About the BlogNew Learner Lab is a blog dedicated to exploring ideas and innovations that truly are useful for frontline teachers. It might not jump on every bandwagon that ploughs through the education landscape, but it will do its darnedest to explore innovations that can genuinely help teachers do their work effectively and ethically.
Come on in and see what's cooking in the Lab! |
About the Blogger![]() My name is Art Lightstone. I have taught for more than twenty five years. While my work is driven by my passion for civic engagement, activism, and social justice, it is often facilitated by technology. I am quick to embrace new approaches and tools in the classroom, but I am loathed to get bogged down in gimmicks or fads. I established my blended learning approach back in 1996, I launched newlearner.com in 1997, I published The Private School with a Public Purpose in 2008, and I launched the NewLearnerLab blog in 2014. I have learned, and I continue to learn, many valuable lessons about empowering young people with the knowledge, the skills, and the vision to make a difference in the world. I hope that you will take the time to examine some of these lessons with me so that, in the end, you may arrive at your own conclusions about the opportunities, and the challenges, now facing the new learner.
